Kapalbhati is a very important breathing technique which helps in improving metabolism, heart health, memory and concentration. It also helps in expelling toxins from the body. Although it is a fairly common exercise for yoga practitioners, many people misunderstand it or study it incorrectly.

News18 Yoga Instructor Savita Yadav recently shared some tips for better results of Kapalbhati in Facebook Live and the precautions to be taken by those who are practicing this exercise regularly at home.

Craniotomy increases blood circulation, which also helps in eliminating heart problems. However, there are some precautions to keep in mind. If you are a heart patient, your lungs are weak or you have a chronic stomach problem, do not do this exercise, Yadav suggested. People who suffer from hyperacidity should not do this either.

The correct way to study Kapalbhati

Sit on the mat and meditate. Keep your eyes closed and focus on your breathing. Breathe in and out rhythmically while chanting Om.

Take a deep breath and exhale with force. Your stomach is going inwards or try not to pay attention to the outside, it should be done manually. You can follow the exercises as shown in this video.

Continue breathing for one minute. Consider doing just what you can without pushing yourself. Inhale the air, hold it for a minute and then exhale while resting. This will help you to strengthen your stomach and avoid problems related to metabolism and digestive system.

This exercise can also help you reduce belly fat. It uses forceful breathing which also strengthens the lungs and increases their capacity.
