Voda Idea’s loss narrowed to ₹ 7,297 crore on the tariff hike

New Delhi: Vodafone Idea on Wednesday reported a June quarter of Rs. 7,297 crore reported its consolidated loss compared to Rs. 7,319 crore as against the increase in tariffs due to increase in its realisation.
In the June quarter, Vodafone Idea’s revenue from operations rose to Rs. 10,410 crore, an improvement of about 14% over the year-ago period.
Its average revenue per user (Arpu) – a key monitorable for telecom players – the previous year’s Rs. 104 per customer in the quarter compared to Rs. was 128. This represents a 23.4% year-on-year improvement, aided by tariff hikes.
Vodafone Idea CEO Ravinder hit said, “We witness 4G subscriber growth on the back of better data and voice experience. He added that the company has secured enough spectrum in key markets to provide the best 5G experience to customers. “We have also completed the first phase of fundraising in the form of preferential equity contribution of Rs 4,940 crore from our promoters,” Takkar said.
The company continues to engage with lenders and investors to raise further funds. Its revenue growth was 13.7% in 2018, the “highest since the merger”.
