The Bengaluru Bulls took the top spot with a 46-37 win over the Gujarat Giants

Pawan Sehrawat’s superb performance helped Bengaluru Bulls beat Gujarat Giants 46-37. The Bengaluru Bulls skipper scored 19 points and was well supported by Bharat, who finished the game with nine points. With this win the Bulls have reached the top of the points table.

The Giants took a 4-1 lead early in the game thanks to Rakesh’s two tackle points and two raid points. But the Bulls returned to the game with five unanswered points to take the lead. Rakesh responded with a super raid to help the Giants reclaim the lead, but Pawan Sehrawat responded with his own super raid to give the Bulls a three-point advantage.

The Giants managed to compare the score with raid points and a super tackle, but it was only a momentary relief, as India and the defense fielded the first all out of the game with three Gujarat players on the mat. The Giants then started 4-1, in which Rakesh managed to cut the Bulls’ lead to one side.

Bharat and Bengaluru’s defense again extended their lead to four to help their team. Sehrawat then completed the Super 10 with a two-point raid before adding another to his and the Bulls’ tally to go to the break with a 22-17 lead.

Bengaluru were on the upswing early in the second half and reduced the Giants to just two players on the mat. But Rakesh Kumar’s tremendous work on the offense and Sunil Kumar’s super tackle on Sehrawat combined the loss of the Giants. With his captain on the bench, the Bulls turned to India to tackle the offense, and the young Raider, not disappointed, left the Giants with a solitary player on the mat, gaining two touch points in two raids.

In the ensuing raid, Saurabh Nandal almost single-handedly pinned the last Giants player on the mat and gave the Bulls a four-point lead. The Giants managed to reduce the deficit to three, but the Bulls then started 4-0, with Sehrawat and Defense scoring two points each to reduce the Giants to a lone man on the mat.

Hadi Oshtork returned with a bonus and a touch point to keep the all-out away. But in the ensuing raid, Sehrawat forced the Iranian all-rounder out of bounds, self-outing him, before tagging another defender to cross the midline to add four points to his team’s total.

Behind nine, the Giants were in Damage Limitation mode and tried to reduce the deficit to seven or less to gain points from the competition. When they managed to get two points, they also gave up the Bulls soft touch points and tackle points and lost by nine.
