Shikhar outscored Karthik Verma Vegasna 3-1, 3-2 in the best-of-three final at Hearthstone, one of the most popular League of Legends teams in the Temple of Kings, comprising captain Akshaj Shenoy, Samarth Arvind Trivedi and Mihir. Ranjan, Aditya Selvaraj, Akash Shandilya and Sanindhya Malik comfortably beat Team Coco Cats 3-0 in the best-of-five grand final.
Shikhar displayed impressive skills and gameplay throughout the competition, including the biggest upset of the tournament when he led India’s lone Asian Games medalist Tirtha Mehta to his semifinals. Tirtha won a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games, where Esports was played as a showcase event.
“This moment gives me a sense of accomplishment and honor that is ultimately the result of my diligence and commitment. NESC’22 was Hearthstone’s top event as it showcased all the Titans of India. NESC’22 was a tough grind as I imagined and winning it was an important achievement for me. The Asian Games 2022 will be a big test of my ability as all my competitors are masters in their trade. At the 2018 Asiad, Tirtha gave us our first medal in this title; This time I will use every ounce of power to win the gold medal for my country and continue the medal race. I would also like to acknowledge the Hearthstone India community for their support, and I believe that the way forward will be a concerted effort from the community. Asiad will be a clear assessment of my skills but I am confident in my enthusiasm and hard work. And finally, thanks to ESFI for effectively organizing the qualifiers, ”said Shikhar Chaudhary after getting his first berth for the Asian Games 2022.
In the popular multiplayer online Battle Arena video game League of Legends, which saw the participation of four top pro-India teams, the Temple of Kings, led by Akshaja, lived up to expectations and remained unbeaten before winning the title.
“We are really happy that we made it out of a really competitive national qualifier for the tournament. It is an honor to be a part of Team India globally and to represent India in the prestigious Asian Games. It has been a dream come true for all of us and the full credit for this achievement goes to all the members of my team. Special note of thanks to ESFI for handling the qualifiers so easily and providing such a wonderful opportunity to the Indian MOBA community. Representing one’s own country is not something that everyone gets to do over and over again, it is a lifelong opportunity; We look forward to winning medals and making India proud, ”said Team India League of Legends captain Akshaya in the run-up to the 2022 Asian Games.
ESFI is selecting a team through NESC ’22 to represent India in the 2022 Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China on September 10-25, as eSports has been included as a medal sport for the first time in a prestigious continental event.
FIFA, Street Fighter-V and Hearthstone’s second-ranked athletes will also be included in the Indian squad. The current NESC ’22 has been virtually played out due to the epidemic situation.
The winners of NESC ’22 will take part in AESF’s Road to Asian Games – Regional Qualifier (June-July, 2022), which is being held in China for seeding at the main event. ESFI continues its partnership with Artsmith- Concepts & Visions which will expand its support as a communication partner. ESFI is live streaming NESC ’22 thriller on its official YouTube channel.
