Scale Committee: Government expands SCALE Committee, appoints 3 new members

New Delhi: The government has expanded Scale Committee (Steering Committee for Local Value Adding and Export Promotion) Adding three new members, coming from different industry backgrounds, according to industry insiders.
The new appointees are chairman and CEO of Panasonic India Manish Sharma, Toyota Kirloskar Vice Chairman Vikram S. Kirloskar, And co-promoter and chairman of Asian Paints, Adverb Technologies Jalaj Dani, He said.
Currently, the 14-member steering committee for advancing local value-added and exports (SCALE) is headed by former Mahindra CEO Pawan Goenka.
In addition, the CEO of Invest India Deepak Bagla, Salil Singhal, CMD, PI Industries and Sehshagiri Rao, CFO, JSW Steel Group are on the board of SCALE Committee.
It is represented by industry bodies like FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM and officials from Commerce and other Ministries.
The SCALE Committee has been constituted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry which is working closely with the Department of Industry and Internal Trade Promotion (DPIIT) under the guidance of the Ministry.
It has facilitated the development of two dozen working groups to address specific issues to boost domestic production. Each working group includes representatives from at least six to seven companies from a manufacturing segment as well as liaison with their respective ministries to effectively address the challenges.
The SCALE Committee has promoted the Product-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which enables the environment for domestic production capacity in the country.
In the Union Budget 2021-22, the government has allocated Rs. 1.97 lakh crore, which will pave the way for a game-changing shift towards a self-reliant India.
Through the PLI scheme, the minimum surplus production in India over the next five years will be around Rs. 37.5 lakh crore is expected. Networking products, among others.
