WrestleMania Backlash is WWE’s marquee pay-per-view event. Ever since WrestleMania 38 took place in April, fans have been waiting for WrestleMania Backlash.
WrestleMania Backlash had some of the biggest superstars, blockbuster matches and boiling fights. Backlash built on the foundation of never ending fights and provided tremendous action in the ring.
A total of four WrestleMania remakes were featured in the special event. In fact WrestleMania backlash should be rated one notch above WrestleMania 38 in terms of match quality.
Fans were treated to a thrilling SmackDown Women’s Championship “I Quit” match between Charlotte Flair and Rhonda Rousey.
But WrestleMania Backlash featured a six-man tag team match between The Bloodline (Roman Raines, J. Uso and Jimmy Uso) and Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle).
Here are all the highlights of the Dunkin ‘Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
Cody Rhodes Vs. Seth Rollins
In the early stages of the match, it looked like Rollins was getting better than Rhodes.
But Rhodes returned to the match by landing a disaster kick on Rollins.
As the match progressed, Rhodes consolidated his dominance. In the end, Rhodes won the Grand Slam champion by a roll-up pin.
Bobby Lashley Vs. Omos
Lashley immediately took the fight to Omos, wreaking havoc on him.
After a back-and-forth brutality, Lashley tried to wield the match-ending spear but Omos avoided him and struck Lashley with his cane. In the end, Omos picked up Lashley and left him for a pinfall to record a nice victory.
AJ Style Vs. Edge
Stiles got off to a strong start by beating Edge from the corner and hitting Edge with a baseball slide by Asai Moonsolt.
Damien Priest’s interference was also seen in the match. Notably, Priest was banned from the ringside. As a result, Damien Priest was attacked by Finn Bloor. In the chaos that ensued, a figure with a hood emerged and pulled Stiles out of the upper rope, allowing Edge to suffocate his opponent to win.
SmackDown Women’s Championship “I Quit” Match – Charlotte Flair Vs. Rhonda Rousseau
The last night’s match between Flair and Rousseau was a rematch of the clash between the two on the 1st night of WrestleMania 38. Flair won that match through Napak. But at the WrestleMania backlash, Rhonda Rousey defeated Charlotte Flair under the “I Quit” bet to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. The match was a tough fight and the quality of action was tremendous.
Medcap Moss Vs. Happy Corbin
This was the least impressive match of the night with Moss winning by pinfall. Corbyn managed to strike some devastating blows, such as high-angle chokeslam, but it was not enough.
In the end, Moss skipped the clothing line and ran a perfect sunset flip to score a pinfall.
The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, J. Uso and Jimmy Uso) v. Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle)
This was WrestleMania Backlash’s marquee clash and did not fail to impress. Ridley took early control of the match and fought like hell. Ridley inflicted some devastating blows on Jay, including suplexes and sentences. Ridley also unveiled his signature floating bro for a near fall on Jey.
The two selected teams were evenly matched in a hard-fought match until the Roman Reigns delivered a thunderous spear to Riddle to record a nice victory. Even though they weren’t the favorites coming into the match, The Bloodline was high in the end
