Rafael Nadal boosted his US Open hopes by announcing on Wednesday that he will play at the Cincinnati Masters next week.
“So happy to be playing in Cincy again. Flying there tomorrow,” the 36-year-old wrote on Instagram.
World number three Nadal has not played since suffering a stomach tear at Wimbledon last month which forced him to withdraw from his semi-final against Nick Kyrgios.
Nadal, who won the Australian and French Open titles this year to take his grand slam total to 22, skipped the Montreal Masters this week to help overcome an injury.

The Spaniard has not played in Cincinnati, where he was champion for five years in 2013.
Nadal will be looking for a fifth US Open title when the final major of the season opens in New York on August 29.
