In his last two clean and jerk attempts at 133kg, the barbell slipped from his hands before he could complete the ‘clean’.

Local favorite Emily Campbell broke the Games records in snatch and total lift as she lifted 286kg (124kg+162kg) to win the gold medal.

He also held Commonwealth records in clean and jerk and total lift.


Samoa’s Fagaiga Stowers won the silver medal with 268 kg (121 kg + 147 kg) while Australian Charisma Amo Tarrant won the bronze with 239 kg (100 kg + 139 kg).

Indian weightlifters have won nine medals including three golds in this edition.
