PM Narendra Modi to host Indian delegation at his residence after best performance in Deflympics


New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated the Indian team for its best performance so far in the recently concluded Deflympics, and said he would host them at his residence on May 21. Brazil won 8 gold, one silver and 8 bronze medals.

“Congratulations to the Indian team for their best performance so far in the recently concluded Deflympics! Every athlete in our team is an inspiration to our fellow citizens. I will organize the whole team at my residence on the morning of the 21st, ”PM Modi tweeted.

India finished second with three gold and two bronze medals, completing their shooting assignment at the 24th Deflympics in Caxias do Sul, Brazil.

Indian golfer Diksha Dagar, fulfilling her promise to improve her silver-winning performance in the 2017 edition, defeated American Ashlyn Grace in the final to win a gold medal at the Deflelympics.

Diksha is now the only golfer to have Samsung in 2017, Silver in Turkey and Gold in 2022, which is actually the 2021 edition of Deflimpix, with two Deflimpix medals.

India are ninth in the points table with a total of 17 medals.
