Microsoft’s Office The set of productivity applications is really popular among businesses as well as general consumers. Tech Giant is expected to introduce a new commercial experience for the office in 2022, which will change the way businesses purchase their software. However, a CNBC report says Microsoft Will force organizations to pay 20% more per month if they do not choose its annual subscription plans.
The idea behind this is to lock customers in longer and not worry about losing them, the report said. Don’t forget the extra income it will generate. Microsoft’s annual plans cost less in the long run but small businesses don’t really appreciate it.
Some of Microsoft’s business customers – about 1,400 of them – do not accept this and have started a petition against it. Users have also gone to Reddit to complain about Microsoft’s actions.
The petition states that Microsoft has already increased the price by 15% and “adding 20% to this type of SKU seems almost punitive in nature.” The petition also states that monthly subscriptions are invaluable in helping to reduce costs, especially during the Covid-19 epidemic which affected the economic situation for many. In August this year, Microsoft raised its prices Office 365 By 15%.
A company spokesperson told CNBC in an email that “Microsoft offers flexible purchase options to meet the diverse needs of our customers, and we do not disclose information about our premium and pricing approach to partners.”
In addition, Microsoft said it plans to introduce a monthly term option that would enable partners to provide customers with flexibility at a premium price.
In an official blog post, Microsoft detailed how these plans would work for consumers. “To embrace the new commercial experience, Microsoft will offer two timebound promotions starting in January 2022, available on new commercial commercial seat-based offers: 5% discount on year-round offers, and monthly term offers at the same price.
