Mahindra gives Scorpio a facelift


New Delhi: Mahindra Scorpio Homegrown Auto Major got a contemporary makeover in June 2002 with the launch of the new-gen version of the model ‘Scorpio-N’, which hit the roads for the first time. Mahindra & Mahindra.
The company is very much looking forward to the success of XUV7OO and Thar and hopes that the new version of Scorpio will help it gain more penetration in metro and urban markets. It is mainly decoded to retain the previous generation model (called Scorpio Classic) for rural and semi-urban markets.

The Scorpio-N will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. The ex-showroom prices of this model are Rs. 12 lakh to Rs. 19 lakh and for diesel variant Rs. 12.5 lakh to Rs. 19.5 lakh.
Rajesh Jejurikar, ED, Auto and Farm Sectors at M&M, said the company is confident of strengthening its position in the premium SUV market with Scorpio-N as it works to create additional production capacity to reduce long queues for bookings of other models. Will compete with models like Scorpio-N Tata SafariMG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar and its own sister XUV7OO.
M&M is blocked due to a shortage of global semiconductors, the recent lockdown in China and the supply crisis of critical parts due to the crisis in Ukraine. The jury said the company is trying to overcome the shortage, though the forward position of semiconductors is improving.
