Liston Colaco Wonder Goal Makes Juan Ferrando’s Goa Return Sweeter

Liston Colaco Thunderbolt stole the show one night Roy Krishna also got a goal to return to Juan Ferrando’s familiar territory as ATK beat Mohan Baga FC Goa 2-1 in the Hero Indian Super League at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda. Wednesday. Ferrando returned as head coach of ATKMB to fight his former team FC Goa and Colaco (23rd) gave him a spectacular strike in the first half. It was his fifth goal of the season, the highest by any Indian this term. Krishna (56th) took the lead 2-0 early in the second half, with George Ortiz luckily pulling one back in the 81st minute but it was not enough in the end.

The result meant that ATKMB continued their resurgence under Ferrando, finishing third in the points table with 14 points from eight matches. FC Goa, meanwhile, are eighth with eight points from eight games.

Impressive Devendra Murgaonkar warmed up Amarinder Singh’s gloves with an early attempt after his marker nutmeg and made it better to shoot on goal. Amarinder saw the ball all over and covered it.

ATKMB, however, was enjoying the lion’s share of possession and received their reward in the 23rd minute despite a moment of personal brilliance.

Sparkling Colaco, having been causing all sorts of trouble for Goa for some time, landed the ball on the left inside channel near the halfway mark. The 23-year-old then took a few steps to unleash a hit rocket that landed behind the keeper and behind the net. Ferrando placed his hands on her head with disbelief, her mouth wide open as Green and Maroon proceeded to ride on the piece of magic.

At the half-hour mark, Jorge Ortiz pushed Amarinder for a good save from a free-kick, but Huff had already gone to Liston for his incredible strike, and rightly went to the break with an ATKMB 1-0 lead.

Soon after the restart, the Mariners doubled their advantage, with Krishna firing Hugo Baumus Lobe home for the first time from the edge of the box. An Amarinder Gaffe helped them get back into the game before Goa never got a grip on the game after trailing by two goals.

Ortiz’s weak left footer was vaguely spilled by Amarinder as the ball went into the net. Goa threw a towel through ATKMB’s firm and got three points.
