Odisha had a chance to take the lead in the 26th minute when Javi Hernandez forced Prabhasukhan Gill to defend well from a snapshot against the run of the game. Two minutes later, Kerala moved on. It was part of Nishu Kumar’s personal brilliance that Adrian Luna sent a curling effort to the top right corner from outside the box after setting it up beautifully.

Kerala doubled their lead in five minutes at halftime, with Luna rejoining as he swung into a fun corner to head Khabra.

Odisha tried to advance in the second half but Gill was in top form as he pulled a superb save to deny Jonathas Christian after the hour-mark.

Jonathan had another chance to pull back when Jerry Mavihmingthanga sent a clever ball into the box for him but his header slammed over the bar. Javin also got a free-kick from a good position but his attempt was successful.
