The second center will be at IIT-Bombay (IIT-B), which has “announced the establishment of a National Center of Excellence in Carbon Capture and Utilization (NCoE-CCU) with the support of DST.”
The National Center at JNCASR will conduct world-class research, provide training and consultancy in the areas of carbon-dioxide (CO2) capture and use, and translate this research into solutions with global economic and social impact, sources said. .
“The Centre’s vision is to become a center of excellence and world leader in specialized socio-economic impact research, high-impact publications and specialized research in CO2 capture and use through national and international links, and to nurture young candidates through outreach programs,” a source said.
Professor Sebastian C. Peter, faculty, JNCASR, who will be the head of the new center as chief investigator, said more details would be revealed in the coming days.
