Chahal took one wicket and conceded just 11 runs in a spell of three overs. He was also named ‘Player of the Match’ for his superb spell.
“Very difficult (in this cold position). Today I felt like a finger spinner (smile). Sometimes it’s hard but you have to adapt to every situation,” Chahal said during the post-match presentation. .
“He (captain Hardik) gave me the freedom to bowl whatever I want. The weather is very cold … I wear three sweaters right now,” he added.
Hooda scored 47 off 29 balls to remain unbeaten and Hardik played an innings of 24 off 12 balls and won by seven wickets in just 9.2 overs to chase the visitors ’109-run target.
Earlier, Harry Tector’s unbeaten 64 off 33 balls helped Ireland reach 108/4 /. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Chahal, Hardik Pandya and Avesh Khan took one wicket each.
India are now 1-0 up in the two-match series, with the second T20I scheduled for Tuesday.
