Dambulla (Sri Lanka): Captain of the Indian women’s team Harmanpreet Kaur Left the former captain behind on Saturday Mithali Raj Became India’s highest T20I run scorer.
Harmanpreet achieved this feat during the second T20I against Sri Lanka in which she remained unbeaten on 31 runs. She has now scored 2,372 runs in 123 matches at an average of 26.65, including one century and six half-centuries.
Harmanpreet set the record 16 days after Mithali’s retirement.
Mithali has scored 2,364 runs in 89 T20s with 17 half-centuries at an average of 37.52.
Harmanpreet was the skipper and his 31 helped India win the second T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka by five wickets at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Saturday.
With this victory, India has won the series 2-0.
Chasing 126, Smriti Mandhana (39) and Shafali Verma (17) got off to a flying start for India with a 30-run partnership. From there, India did not look back and won by five wickets with five balls to spare.
