Government-appointed panel on EV fire case to submit report this month

New Delhi: An expert committee set up by the Ministry of Road Transport to probe cases of electric two-wheeler fires and suggest remedial action is likely to submit its report this month, a senior government official said on Friday.
Recently, there have been several incidents of fires in electric vehicles (EVs) and deaths and serious injuries to people.
“The expert committee (designed on battery standards and certification) is likely to submit its report this month,” the official told PTI.
Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari Companies found negligent will be penalized recently and an expert panel will be ordered to recall all defective vehicles after submitting its report, he said.
The e-scooter, launched by ride-hailing operator Ola’s electric mobility arm, was engulfed in fire in Pune and the government ordered an inquiry in April.
The Center for Fire Explosives and Environmental Safety (CFEES) was asked to investigate the circumstances leading to the incident and suggest remedial action, according to the Road Transport Ministry.
