Former England midfielder Matt Le Tissier has been sacked by Sky Sports From his role in Soccer Saturday almost two years ago. Le Tisier has now revealed his dismissal and in a dramatic conversation the former footballer has demanded why the broadcasters are still hiring Jamie Kerager.
Matt Le Tissier, who had a one-story career with Southampton Football Club, was relieved of his duties in 2020 along with former Arsenal footballer Charlie Nicholas and former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson. The decision was criticized by many viewers on social media and later broadcasters decided to introduce a new line-up of pundits like Michael Dawson and Chris Boyd.
Le Tisier talked about his chat with Sky Sports when he was told he would be fired. Moreover, he asked why former Liverpool defender Kerger was hired as a pundit in 2018 even after he spat on a 14-year-old girl from his car.
According to Le Tissier, he was told in five seconds that there was no more work for him in Sky Sports. Le Tissier had about seven months left on his contract at the time but was told he would no longer be needed.
“They didn’t really give a specific reason, they just said ‘the show was going in a different direction’, those were the words I think they used. So I asked the question, ‘Is this social media?’ Does it have anything to do with my post on? To which he replied, “We have to consider the company’s reputation when making these decisions,” Le Tessier revealed during a conversation on The Rob Moore Podcast.
“At the time I said, ‘Oh, that’s interesting, because at the moment, you’re hiring someone who spat at a girl from his car.’
“Jamie Kerger, who spat on a young girl by his car. They suspended her for six months and then brought her back into the fold,” he added.
The former Liverpool footballer-Keraghar was suspended from the company for a short period. Later, the former defender was introduced to the panel back in August.
