Drinking beer can improve your gut health, new study says; How this is happening

What could be better than opening a cold beer can after a long day? For many, beer is a guilty pleasure because it is associated with inevitable weight gain. But you will enjoy hearing that, when drunk in moderation, a pint of beer can bring many benefits, helping you to relax after a stressful week. A recent article published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry reflects on the effect of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beer ingestion on intestinal microbiota. And the results will make you smile.

The findings of the study show that drinking alcoholic or non-alcoholic beer increases the diversity of intestinal bacteria without affecting body fat, body weight or serum cardiometabolic indicators. Scientists have noted that consuming non-alcoholic or alcoholic beer every day for “four weeks” does not increase body fat or weight.

What are some of the other health benefits of drinking beer?

Ensures heart health

According to the National Library of Medicine, mild to moderate consumption of beer can benefit the heart, as well as regulate blood sugar levels. Studies have shown that moderate beer consumption – one drink for women, two drinks per day for men – can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Can control blood sugar level

“Moderate alcohol consumption – 14 drinks per week for men and nine drinks per week for women – with a 43% and 58% lower risk of diabetes for men and women, respectively,” NLM said.

Prevents Kidney Stones

Drinking beer can reduce the risk of kidney stones. The Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology reported that men and women who drank moderate amounts of beer had a 41 percent reduced risk of developing gallstones.

Strengthen the bones

Because of its high silicone content, beer can be good for your bones, LiveScience reports. Dietary silicone in soluble form of orthosalic acid (OSA) may prove important for the growth and development of bones and connective tissue, which may further reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
