Boston Celtics beat Milwaukee Bucks to stay alive in NBA playoffs

Boston forward Jason Tatum scored 46 points as the Celtics beat NBA champions Milwaukee Bucks 108-95 on Friday to push for seven decisive games in their Eastern Conference playoff series.

As his team struggled with elimination, Tatum drilled seven of the Celtics’ 17 three-pointers and helped with the 44-point, 20-rebound performance of Bucks star Giannis Antetoconampo and won the best of seven in each of the three games. .

Antetocompo posted the first 40-point, 20-rebound game since Shakil O’Neill in 2001, but his third 40-point out of four games was not enough to propel Champs.

They will have to fight for a place in the Eastern Conference Finals in Boston on Sunday – the same day that the team that defeated Milwaukee in last season’s championship series, the Phoenix Suns, plays the Dallas Mavericks in their seventh game of the Western Conference series.

Tatum pulled back 11 straight Boston points to help thwart the Bucks’ rally in the fourth quarter, closing the 13-point deficit at four on Antetocanampo’s three-pointer early in the final period.

It looked as if Bucks could write another impressive comeback victory, erasing a 14-point fourth-quarter loss to win five games on Wednesday.

But Tatum and the rest of the Celtics will not let that happen.

“I think we played the game a little harder,” Tatum said. “Our season was on the line. I knew it and we knew it. We had to give what we had.”

Jalen Brown scored 22 points and point guard Marcus Smart added 21 points for the Celtics.

Juru Holiday scored 17 for Milwaukee, without three-time All-Star forward Chris Middleton, who missed nine matches with a sprain in his left knee.
