Australian Open: Barbora Krajikova crushes injured Victoria Azarenka to reach quarterfinals with Madison Keys | Tennis News

Melbourne: French Open champion Barbora Krajikova Shattered dreams twice Australian Open The winner Victoria Azarenka To set the quarterfinals with a big service on Sunday Madison Keys.
The fourth-ranked player won the baseline battle to knock out veteran Belarusian Azarenka, struggling with a neck problem, 6-2, 6-2 at the Road Laver Arena.
The American defeated eighth-seeded Spaniard Paula Badosa 6-3, 6-1 to clinch a place in the last four with unseeded keys.
“Today was really wonderful because she is the champion here and she likes this court, she is very experienced on this court,” said Czech Krajikova.
“I really admire her because she is a very good player and I am very happy that I won today. It was a dream to play on such a court and against such a champion.”

Krejcikova is having a big year in 2021, in which she won the title at Roland Garros and increased the ranking.
But she did not advance to the second round in Australia in her previous two attempts.
She quickly took command in the intense heat, returned well to keep the ball in the game and then ordered from behind the court.
The 26-year-old got off to an early break with a beautiful lobe and focused on catching everyone, then broke 5-2 again.
Azarenka – the 2012 and 2013 Melbourne champions – struggled with a neck problem and was called up for a break in the second set and a medical timeout going down 0-1.

She was heard saying “looks boring”, but she only went to call the physio at 1-2 o’clock.
Against the odds, she then broke back, but the injury was clearly hindering her service and she made a double mistake in handing Krajikova a second break and there was no way back.
The win kept alive the slim chances of fourth-ranked Krajikova reaching the world number one at the end of the tournament, but she needed to win the title and hopefully other results would go in her favor.
