Indian Super League side ATK have announced that Mohan Baga has signed a two-year pre-contract with arch-rivals SC East Bengal’s 18-year-old midfielder Lalrinlia Hanmat.
“We are presenting our first signature for next season, Lamarinliana Hanmate. The player signs a two-year pre-contract, “ATKMB posted in a tweet.
This is the Mariners’ first investment in the summer transfer window before the ISL 2022-23 season.
Hnamte joined next to Pune City FC U-18 in 2016 and was featured in the 2018 I-Legue U-18. Subsequently, it was featured for the Hyderabad FC reserve side.
ISL Club SC East Bengal has attracted attention from all corners with its consistent performances at the age-group level with the addition of it for the 2021-22 season.
Hnamat was a regular for the Red and Gold Brigade, having played 17 matches last season. With 220 passes to his name he proved to be an important cog in midfield.
The youngster also scored once, which helped SC East Bengal to a 2-2 draw against Chennai FC.
However, he will not be able to play in ATKMB’s AFC Cup group matches.
ATK Mohan Baga has registered a 28-member team for the continental event.
The Calcutta Football League or the Durand Cup could provide a perfect opportunity for Hnamate to make his debut, if the Mariners attend any of these meetings.
ATK Mohan Baga was placed in the top-4 in ISL 2021-22, but was knocked out by Hyderabad FC in the two-leg semifinal.
