Kolkata: ATK Mohan Baga has signed Australian A-League star defender Brendon Hamill ahead of the upcoming Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 season, the club announced on Thursday.
The Sydney-born 29-year-old defender began his career playing for a youth academy and lower division club in Australia and made his professional debut in 2010 at Melbourne Heart FC (now rebranded as Melbourne City FC).
After two years at Melbourne City FC, Defender moved to South Korea’s top division football K-League 1 side Seongnam FC in 2012. Defender played in K-League 1 for two years but did not get the desired results there.
“Hamil is a player who helps build the game and who uses his experience to help the team in difficult defensive moments. It will be an asset to the team, “said ATK Mohun Bagan head coach Juan Ferrando.
He then went back down and signed for A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers in 2014. He began developing at the Western Sydney Wanderers Club. Who later received the award in the form of captaincy. The defender stayed at WSW for five years, making 79 appearances and scoring 4 goals.

He also represented the Australian national teams at the U17, U20 and U23 levels and appeared in 30 games overall. Hamil also competed in the Asian Olympic qualifying matches for the senior team.
The 29-year-old has won several major trophies throughout his career, winning the prestigious AFC Champions League trophy with the Western Sydney Wanderers in 2014, and, more recently, winning the FFA Cup in 2021 with a recent Melbourne victory.
