Formerly a Dhaka A police statement said the cause of Shimu’s murder was probably a family feud and her husband had confessed to the murder while being questioned by local police.
Earlier, Keraniganj police said Shimu’s husband Noble and a friend of his, Abdullah Farhad, had been taken into custody for further questioning. Meanwhile, several reports in the Bangladeshi media suggest that an influential actor may have been involved in the case, but police have not confirmed anything about it.
The body of Rayama Islam Shimu was found by Sir Salimulla Medical College Hospital Earlier on Tuesday for autopsy as there were several marks of injuries on him. Preliminary investigations suggested that the actress was killed elsewhere and her body was later dumped near the Keraniganj bridge.
Shimu was living with her husband and child and she went missing on Sunday morning. Her family later filed a missing person’s diary, suspecting something was amiss.
The veteran actress made her acting debut in the 1998 film Bartaman and has since acted in over 25 films and several TV shows. Was also a member of Bangladesh Film Artists Association.
