Aadhaar: How to detect a shared Aadhaar card is not a fake

The issue of how to verify the authenticity of Support Cards are often faced by organizations as well as the public in general when identity cards are presented as proof of identity. UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) Recommends checking ‘Aadhaar’ as an additional check for residents, for example, when hiring an employee, domestic worker, driver or tenant. Ordinary people can also check another person’s support at any time as part of a background check. Not sure how? UIDAI has shared some tips using which the authenticity of ‘Aadhaar’ card can be easily established both online and offline.
How to check Aadhaar card authentication online
The last 3 digits of age band, gender, state and Aadhaar holder’s mobile can be verified by visiting https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/verifyAadhaar. The person only needs to enter the Aadhaar number.
How to check the offline authenticity of Aadhaar card
A secure QR code is printed on each Aadhaar card / Aadhaar letter / e-Aadhaar. This QR code contains demographic details (name, gender, date of birth and address) as well as a photograph of the Aadhaar number holder. Even if another person’s photograph with the Aadhaar card has been tampered with by Photoshop, the information in the QR code is secure and tamper-proof as it is digitally signed by UIDAI. The QR code can be read through the “Support QR Scanner” application available Play Store And App Store.
For those who are unaware, UIDAI is a statutory authority established under its provisions Aadhaar Act2016 by Government of India.
